Starting a plan

If we haven’t serviced your elevator before, we start with an assessment visit. Anything it needs to be brought up to standard is quoted before the plan begins.

12-month agreement

Plans run for a year and renew automatically. Cancel anytime up to 30 days before your renewal date.

Goes with the house

Selling? The plan transfers to the new owner, so the elevator stays looked after.

Not covered

Repairs for storm, flood or surge damage, light bulbs, and work on wiring, phone lines or structure outside the elevator.

Not sure which plan fits? Call 239-499-4749 and we’ll recommend one after a look at your equipment.

System by system

What we look at on every visit.

Doors and gates

What we check

Interlocks, latches, closers, gate switches and clearances.

Why it matters

Most stopped elevators trace back to a door or gate that is not making its contact.

Drive

What we check

Hydraulic oil level and leaks, or cables, drum, chain and gearbox on other types.

Why it matters

Wear here is gradual and cheap to deal with early.

Rails and guides

What we check

Alignment, fixings, lubrication, guide shoes or rollers.

Why it matters

Dry or corroded rails cause noise, vibration and uneven wear.

Controls

What we check

Controller, wiring, call stations, leveling and fault history.

Why it matters

Humidity and power surges show up here first.

Safety devices

What we check

Emergency stop, alarm or phone, battery lowering, safeties and limits.

Why it matters

They are rarely used, so they have to be tested to be trusted.

Pit and hoistway

What we check

Water, debris, corrosion and anything stored where it should not be.

Why it matters

The lowest point is where flood and salt damage begins.

Common questions

Maintenance FAQ

How much does a maintenance plan cost?

Coastal Care plans start at $55 a month (Essential, one visit a year). The Coastal Care plan, with two visits timed around hurricane season and two service calls a year, is $105 a month. Coastal Care Plus, with weekday labor covered all year, is $165 a month. Pay for the year up front and save 5%.

How often should a home elevator be serviced?

Most manufacturers call for at least one visit a year. Near the coast, or for an elevator that is used heavily, twice a year is sensible. We will recommend an interval after seeing the equipment.

What can I do myself between visits?

Keep the door tracks and the sill clear, keep the pit and the machine space free of stored items, report any new noise or a cab that stops out of level, and run the elevator now and then if you are not using it daily.

Do you maintain stairlifts and platform lifts too?

Yes. Both benefit from a yearly check of batteries, charging contacts, switches and safety sensors.

Does maintenance prevent every breakdown?

No, but it prevents most of them and makes the rest quicker to fix, because the technician already knows the machine and its history.
